PIPELINE CLEANING
The main purpose of cleaning lines is to give a better view to better assess the condition of the pipe. Common instances when pipes require cleaning: New construction inspections, CIPP prep, root masses, full pipe blockage, protrusions, pipe dips, broken pipe, grease, rocks, silt, and sewage.
CLEANING TECHNIQUES
The most common type of cleaning. We use high pressure nozzles to jet upstream and pull all debris or blockages downstream. This is extremely effective and all of our Technicians are very skilled at this process.
We have an advanced robot that can remove root masses, protrusions, and blockages. It has a high speed air motor that cuts debris out of the way.
This involves stringing a line with a winch cable, and pulling clamshell like “buckets” that open in one direction and close in the other. After multiple passes of pulling out material, the line will be clear.
This method stills utilizes a jetting nozzle, but the head of the nozzle spins at a high rate of speed. The head has chains attached to it which knock roots or other debris out of place as it moves both upstream and downstream.
The “chain flail” nozzle described in the root intrusion section, also has the ability to remove obstructions or pipe that has corroded on the inside, or as we call them in the industry: tuberculations.
This is the process of pulling a swab in a pipeline to clean it out from one end to the other.
PROJECT MISSION
There is nobody that cleans a pipe better than a Lining Contractor. What remains in a pipeline will be lined over, so to ensure maximum hydraulic efficiency we remove all debris prior to re-lining. This is a daily part of our job, and we have become very proficient at it.
